Executive Chef, Dan Dunville has incorporated his creative flair into the menu that boasts Midwestern Comfort Food with a Culinary Twist. Bringing 20 years of experience to 10-01 and specializing in American Regional Comfort Food, the transition from a fine dining background into “Sophisticated Casual Dining” is just where he wants to be in his career.
Dan knew at an early age that food had a special significance and would some day be his passion and livelihood. “I was taken out to one too many delicious meals when I was younger and thought everything about cooking was pretty cool.”
Upon graduating from Indiana University with a degree in Anthropology he had the opportunity to travel abroad in Asia, Europe and Australia where his culinary curiosity grew. After years as a photographer, assistant mountain guide and expedition cook in South America and Nepal, Dan made the decision to follow his passion and enroll in the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY.
After graduating from culinary school, Dan returned to Indianapolis and immersed himself in the restaurant scene learning the discipline and dedication necessary to run a successful kitchen. The hard work and determination paid off when Dan won the 2004 Indy “Iron Chef” competition putting himself on the culinary map.
In 2004, he was also recognized in Indiana Cooks!, an Indiana cookbook featuring some of the state’s best chefs. In 2007, Dan won the “Taste of Elegance” Pork Competition and represented Indiana in the National Competition. Most recently, Dan is proud to be named “Indiana 2013 Best Chef in America,” a national publication.
You can taste the influence of Dan’s travels in his seasonal menu at 10-01 Food & Drink, as well as his weekly features.
